Wonderful play of nature
The Rastoke Falls has been made possible by a wonderful play of nature which lets the azure-green waters of the Slunjčica run into the Korana over a series of travertine barriers, thus creating a chain of waterfalls, rapids, pools and cascades.
More then 300 years ago, this multitude of cliffs and small islets was chosen for a place where a water-milling settlement with flour and grist mills, flax-stamping mills, wash mills and wooden gangways was built. The harmony between man and nature can still be found there. In history, Slunjčica had many names: Sluinca Fluss, Sluinchiza, Szluinchitsa, Sluinschiza, pa zatim Slujinčica, Slovinčica, Slovinštica,...
