Project Slunj’s watery secrets is an investment in the significant landscape Slunjčica with the goal to provide a better management of visitors and improving the knowledge of all participants to ensure sustainable use of natural heritage.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Project Slunj’s watery secrets is an investment in the significant landscape Slunjčica with the goal to provide a better management of visitors and improving the knowledge of all participants to ensure sustainable use of natural heritage. Meaning, the investment should provide an improved and logical route for movement of visitors in the landscape Slunjčica, expanding the visiting area and time of visits giving the visitor diversity of contents in the landscape Slunjčica through new planned programs of organized visits and interpretation boards.

PROJECT GOALS AND EXPECTED RESULTS:

General goal: Contribution to a sustainable development of the natural heritage of the Town of Slunj by quality management of the resources in the area of significant landscape Slunjčica.
Specific goal: By investing in infrastructure and applying a new concept of interpretation of the landscape area Slunjčica and the town of Slunj to set the foundation for better management of visitors and the improvement of knowledge of all participants.

PROJECT RESULTS:

Developed a new and improved tourist infrastructure on the significant landscape Slunjčica (built a new wooden bridge and a new walking trail in Rastoke, built a info-centre in Rastoke, reconstruction of the bridge St. Ivan, restored the existing walking trail in Rastoke, put in function the research station of the Public institution Natura Viva)
Designed and implanted interpretation tools, excursion and utility equipment on the area of significant landscape Slunjčica (signs, developed contents for interpretation tables, interpretive tables, desks, benches, arbours, waste baskets, solar panels)
Educational content implemented to develop new tourist and scientific services, services for blind and partially sighted persons and for local participants
Enhanced visibility and promotion of the project through the development of modern marketing services (mobile application development, interactive placards, website / new content and translation in foreign languages, content for QR codes, virtual tours)
Improved economic activity through direct employment of 2 new employees in Tourist Board Slunj and Public institution Natura Viva and the development of the destination of open possibilities for indirect employment in other tourist, catering, service and manufacturing activities.

TOTAL VALUE OF PROJECT: 23.082.628,64 kn

SUFINANCING FROM THE EU: 85% of the total amount of eligible costs

IMPLEMENTATION PROCEDURE: 31.01.2014. - 12.08.2020.
